Due to the Covid-19 related regulations given by the Austrian government we are sorry to inform you that the restrictions would cut down the symposium to an extent that we think to be unacceptable. We would be obliged to reduce the number of participants to a very small number and to prevent as far as possible any social gatherings. We think that under such conditions, our symposium cannot be what we wanted the Wittgenstein Symposium of 2021 to be: a highlight for the community of Wittgenstein scholars, where the best scholars of the field exchange ideas with the community, in particular with the younger generation of students interested in Wittgenstein. For the same reason we do not want to turn the symposium into an online-event.
You can imagine that it was with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the International Wittgenstein Symposium “100 Years of Tractatus logico-philosophicus – 70 Years after Wittgenstein’s death” to 2023. We are particularly sad about this postponement but very much hope for your willingness to re-submit your paper or submit another one for the same Wittgenstein Symposium two years later. We are happy to say that this year’s Summer School will take place at the University of Klagenfurt, independently of the symposium.
